about
Cahill//Costello are an ambient duo from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in late 2019. They comprise of Classical, Contemporary Guitarist/Composer Kevin Daniel Cahill and Drummer/Composer Graham Costello (Graham Costello’s STRATA, AKU!, Corto Alto). Cahill//Costello is a vehicle for minimalist musical expression.
They bring their seemingly incompatible, unique and individual musical disciplines together - fusing elements of nordic jazz, classical/contemporary guitar, ambient soundscapes and hand made tape loops to create off world, emotive and ethereal compositions.
'Io II' is a stand alone track from the duo and debut single releasing on 6/11/20. It was recorded in August 2019 in Glasgow and was the result of an improvised recording session. This track was the inception of the duo and marks the first track they recorded together. As a live performance, ‘Io II’ takes it’s name from one of Jupiters Moons and serves as an ambient meditation and bardic exploration of the duo’s musical language.
"Emerging ambient duo Cahill//Costello drop a beautifully monastic debut... A somnolent soundscape of ambient guitar work and understated percussion." - Discovery Music Scotland
